World Handcrafts Celebrates Chinese New Year!

Posted by mennonitequiltcenter on Thursday, January 27th, 2011

Each year brings new celebrations. And this year we welcome all of you to celebrate the Chinese New Year here at World Handcrafts. All week long from January 31 to February 3 we’ll celebrate this important Chinese holiday with fair trade items from East Asian artisans, storytelling, and Asian cuisine.

Guest storyteller Youhua Liu will share Chinese folk tales on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 3:30 pm. Liu currently resides in Reedley thanks to a one-year volunteer exchange program via Mennonite Central Committee.

Sample Asian cuisine on Thursday February 3 as you shop and view our treasures from East Asia. Items include Vietnamese ceramics, Indonesian pottery, home décor, and fashion accessories.

Whether you come to shop, eat, or hear a good story, we know you’ll have a good time ringing in the Chinese New Year at World Handcrafts. We look forward to celebrating the year of the Rabbit and wish you good luck in 2011!
